International Day of Happiness

If you’re following Cruise Experts Travel on Instagram, you know we’re participating in the #100HappyDays challenge and we’re on day 10. Today happens to be the International Day of Happiness as well. In light of the international recognition today, I’d like to share a photo with you that makes me happy.

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.” — Gustave Flaubert

I appreciate very much what travel does to me. It’s not about escaping reality as much as it is to discover the realities of others in another part of the world and even at a different period in time. My trip to Thailand and Cambodia was eye opening and unforgettable, as has every other experience that has taken me out of my comfort zone. This photo that I share with you today makes me happy because of that. Don’t get me wrong, lying on the beach is great; we all need to take that sort of break once in a while. I ask you, though, what kind of excitement exudes from you when you talk about doing nothing on  a beach versus exploring an ancient city and meeting the people who live there now?

What trips have you taken that make you talk with great excitement?
